Monitor Coatings: Increased life for Bloom, Billet and Tube Moulds

Castolin Eutectic, through their Monitor Coatings business, have announced  they have developed a new HVOF extremely wear resistant coating to be applied to the inside of bloom, billet and round mould tubes (XuperCoat).

This development will revolutionise the durability and longevity of small moulds, in extending their performance life. Successful trials have already taken place in the Monitor Coating’s workshop, in North Shields, United Kingdom. XuperCoat and its various applications are similar to, but have a more cost effective performance than the other mould coatings currently supplied into the UK and Europe. Another advantage refers to XuperCoat being compliant with European Legislation such as the REACH Directive, which provides continuity and a cost effective alternative to coatings that will soon become obsolete under the new regulations.

Monitor Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Bryan Allcock said, “We have been developing this coating formula  for a number of years, and we have now perfected the patented application process. We are now looking forward to sharing this exciting technology with new and existing customers.”

Live trials of XuperCoat are currently being prepared to be carried out on a number of carefully selected plants.
